Slip and fall or trip and fall accidents take you by surprise. You aren’t expecting to fall, and often don’t have time to brace yourself before landing hard on the ground. If you trip and fall, or slip and fall due to a property owner’s negligence, we can help. Call us for a free case evaluation.

After you fall, you may be surprised and embarrassed, especially if this happened in a public place. It is important to document the scene before leaving to obtain medical treatment, if you are able. Take photographs of what you slipped or tripped on with your smart phone. This is especially important if you fell on something like liquid or food, which will be cleaned up immediately. If an employee of the property owner wants you to fill out an incident report, keep it brief and insist on a copy. If they refuse to provide you a copy, take a photo of the incident report with your smart phone. Make note of the name of the employee who spoke to you. Make note of any statements that the employee makes to you about if anyone else had also fallen in the same location, or how long the liquid or food had been on the floor. These statements may be critical in proving your case. Do not sign any releases given to you that may give up your right to make a claim for your injuries stemming from the fall.

As soon as you are able, get medical treatment to confirm you are not suffering from life-threatening injuries that require immediate medical intervention, such as traumatic brain injuries, concussions, or spinal cord injuries. After you are medically stable, call a skilled personal injury lawyer, like Warner & Fitzmartin. We will provide you with a free and confidential consultation and guide you throughout the claim process.
